Reprogramming Information
Which models and model years of vehicles can be reprogrammed?
ECU reprogramming was phased-in starting with the 1992 model year 3 series.
How does a technician determine whether a reprogramming event is needed for a particular vehicle?
To determine if reprogramming is needed the technician must establish a connection to the vehicle via OEM equipment or J-2534 interface and run our software update program.  An interactive, web based version of this program is available on the www.bmwtechinfo.com website.
What OEM equipment is needed to reprogram vehicles?
The Integrated Service Information Server is needed to reprogram vehicles.  The ISIS is available for purchase from API International at http://store.apinet.com or 512-280-4391. 
What J-2534 reprogramming capabilities are available?
1996 and newer vehicles are compatible with J-2534 reprogramming.
How does a technician obtain the calibration?
The data needed is available to subscribers at www.bmwtechinfo.com

To use the Online Service System (OSS) for module reprogramming and vehicle diagnosis, it is necessary to meet the following technical requirements.
