8-25-10 NASTF Fall General Meeting in Las Vegas

August 25, 2010, Leesburg, VA – The National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF) will hold the Fall General Meeting on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at 1:30 pm in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Room South Pacific C. This year’s Fall meeting features the usual committee updates, along with a panel discussion titled Maximizing the Value of the SDRM. The Secure Data Release Model (SDRM) is currently used to access secure data such as key codes and pin codes. In addition, there will be a special report on progress by the Canadian CASIS group to establish a similar process of ensuring information availability in Canada. “This year’s Fall meeting promises to be one of the best yet,” said Charlie Gorman, NASTF Chairman. “The panel discussion will explore how the automotive service industry might leverage the value of the SDRM into not-so-obvious areas where such a system can provide real efficiencies.”

 

The panel discussion will consist of Ivan Blackman from the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB); Rene Young and John Norris from the National Automotive Trades Association in Canada, and Bob Stewart representing General Motors. Additional panelists will be named at a later date.

 

“The NASTF Fall Meeting is a great opportunity for everyone attending Automotive Service and Repair Week (ASRW) in Las Vegas to stay abreast of the latest developments in information access and to get an update on the latest developments at NASTF,” Gorman continued. “It’s also a great way to network and share your feelings, perceptions and experiences in the service bay with NASTF leadership and our industry partners.”
